Roadstar celebrates it’s twentieth anniversary and marks the completion of a very successful period for the Melbourne manufacturer, which can now lay claim to being one of Australia’s ‘top five’ caravan manufacturers.
There is a perception amongst the caravanning community that a Roadstar van is one of the more luxurious products around – With an Australia wide dealer network, the company nevertheless designs a variety of models, from smaller pop tops through to large luxury Ensuite caravans, to cater for a myriad of variations in the ever-expanding caravanning demographic.
Roadstar Industries Pty Ltd was formed on June 1, 1988 by John Sparks and Tony Bellamy, along with two other partners. In 1990 the company endured a major factory fire at its Campbellfield premises, and the next year moved to a larger site on the Hume Highway covering 34,000 plus square feet, where it remains today.
These days, Roadstar employs over 100 people and produces seven core models, Retreat, Little Rippa, Mystique, Dreamtime, Voyager Sapphire, the custom build Daintree plus the exclusive and ultimate in caravanning luxury, the Magnifique. Early 2005 saw the introduction of the Magnifique. Without doubt the most lavish caravan available on the Australian market. The year 2006 also saw the release of the Retreat. A unique compact 12’ van catering for up to 4 adults and opens up to 15’.
The re-introduction of the Little Rippa also saw an opportunity for caravanners with a budget to enjoy the great outdoors with a reliable compact poptop.
To celebrate our twentieth anniversary, Roadstar is launching the Mystique which is one of Roadstar’s most contemporary recreational vehicles showcasing advanced technology, spacious, luxurious interior and outstanding sophistication, proudly designed and built in Australia.
Roadstar views the development of extra lightweight caravans as the key to future success. Managing Director, Tony Bellamy, firmly believes that with the prevalence of four cylinder tow vehicles, the development of even lighter caravans for both local and overseas markets is the way to go.
“We are developing a world-first, a caravan that can be towed by a four cylinder car,” said Tony. It will be designed for families and younger people, but will also cater for the retirees as is the case here in Australia.”
